Kontakt.io Partners with Ruckus Networks to Simplify the Adoption of Location-Based IoT Services
Kontakt.io announced today a strategic partnership with Ruckus Networks, an ARRIS company, to ease the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled services into an existing IT network. The Kontakt.io IoT Platform and the Ruckus IoT Suite help reduce the overall costs and risks of deploying and managing asset tracking and location-based services in healthcare, supply chain, and public venues.
On the infrastructure layer, the partnership brings compatibility of Ruckus’ WiFi access points (APs) with Kontakt.io’s IoT Platform and BLE beacons and tags. This gives Kontakt.io customers an easy-to-deploy, cost-effective, and secure way of monitoring and managing their BLE devices. For Ruckus customers, the integration simplifies the deployment of BLE-based devices to support wayfinding, better customer experience, asset tracking, staff and visitor tagging, along with condition monitoring without requiring enterprises to install a disparate BLE network and security infrastructure.
On the business application layer, both companies are jointly developing out-of-the-box IoT solutions for end customers. Powered by their connected infrastructures and industry expertise, the custom applications promise to significantly speed up time-to-market and reduce the risk of failure.
“Bluetooth Low Energy is on the rise to become the go-to technology for IoT location-based services. BLE devices are low-cost, long-lasting and easy-to-deploy as well as supported by a vast mobile – and now wireless access point – network,” says Philipp von Gilsa, CEO at Kontakt.io. “Having expanded beyond their initial applications in retail and industry, beacons and tags are now digitalizing more industries, in more contexts, and on a bigger scale. The increasing need for interoperability and ease of maintenance is a natural part of this process. Our vision is to digitalize the physical world and make the IoT as easy as any consumer application. We are excited to work with Ruckus Networks to bring enterprise-level and low-cost IoT to new and established market segments. We are particularly looking forward to bringing innovation in asset tracking, condition monitoring, and people monitoring use cases.”
“Our partnership with Kontakt.io enables the secure deployment of BLE-based beacons within an IoT access network,” said Bart Giordano, vice president of business development and cloud services, Ruckus Networks. “Our Ruckus IoT Suite supports the deployment of multi-vendor solutions required by indoor navigation, wayfinding and remote environmental monitoring that are constrained by today’s siloed, single-purpose IoT networks. We look forward to our partnership with Kontakt.io to speed the adoption of these IoT services and more.”
The technical integration of Kontakt.io and Ruckus Networks is currently in progress. Existing and future Kontakt.io customers can immediately add the Ruckus IoT Suite to monitor their BLE devices. The first joint commercial project is underway and expected to be brought to market the third quarter of 2018.
