Kontakt.io Acquires ramp.digital, CEO Prateek Gera joins as VP of Product to Lead Expansion of Frictionless and AI-powered IoT
Kontakt.io, the leading location Internet of Things (IoT) Infrastructure provider, today announced that it has acquired ramp.digital, an Industrial and Operations-focused IoT solutions company based in San Jose, California. As part of this acquisition, Prateek Gera, the founder and CEO of ramp.digital and a former executive at HP, Cisco, and relayr, joins Kontakt.io as VP of Product for Simon AI, Kontakt.io’s end-to-end IoT solution offering.
Gera, an MBA from Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, and engineering graduate from NITR India, brings 20 years of product, commercial and entrepreneurial experience and success in IoT, Industrial IoT, Cloud, enterprise, and consumer products from his previous positions at HP, Cisco, relayr, and ramp.digital. His main responsibility at Kontakt.io will be to drive the business and product roadmap of the recently announced Simon AI, next-generation IoT analytics for line-of-business users.
“In the last few years, I have seen multiple IoT projects struggle beyond proofs of concept, primarily for two reasons,” says Gera. “Firstly, because of a lack of sharp focus on business outcomes. Secondly, complex, expensive and long drawn systems integration tend to obfuscate the value and return on investment of such initiatives. I am really excited about this opportunity to join forces with Kontakt.io and lead Simon AI, built specifically to address these challenges. The solution expertise of ramp.digital and Kontakt.io’s success in IoT hardware and Infrastructure software are valuable assets that will help Simon AI succeed in creating frictionless IoT. I am looking forward to advancing the joint vision of simple yet powerful, scalable IoT solutions that solve real problems for business users”
“l am excited to have ramp.digital joining Kontakt.io,” says Philipp von Gilsa, CEO at Kontakt.io. “Prateek shares our vision of simplifying IoT and has the expertise to expand its footprint. It is my firm belief that he will take our solution-centric, machine learning approach to business workflows to the next level.”
Gera joins Kontakt.io as VP of Product, bringing ramp.digital’s assets and IT effective today, 18th of March, 2019. The details of the deal were not disclosed.
